I wrote back on March 25th, before the season started, that the Mets should extend his contract. So I'm not overreacting to his start this season. I just think they're nuts not to lock him up long-term. Maybe they'll be able to trade Santana or Bay (or both) before the deadline this year (despite both having full no-trade clauses). Then they can reallocate some of the funds to Wright.

Joey: This is a great comment. Let me do my best to address each point.

First off, you're right: at the moment since we don't generate any income, we are operating at a loss. However, hosting the site is rather inexpensive and all of the work is done by the founders so no one is getting paid. In the coming weeks, we'll be introducing our first revenue generation model whereby when fans search for seats for particular events, we'll show them businesses in their location offering deals specific to Seatcrew users. Thus far, the response from our first partners has been positive and hopefully the income we derive will enable us to give away more tickets to fans like you!

Second: The thing with Stubhub is that you never know. Here's what we know. Stubhub's inventory is ~ 95% from brokers. These brokers, in order to be a member of their respective trade association (considered indispensable by most) HAVE TO guarantee their tickets. Stubhub prevents you from identifying these sellers to KEEP the possibility of fraud alive.

Seatcrew will show you the brokers (and allow them a space to talk about their business, their guarantees, and link to their websites). Unlike craigslist, we also show you what other people are saying about the individual users and allow you to communicate directly with them before transacting - another way to avoid those nasty CL bots designed to rip people off. So with Seatcrew not only will the SAME tickets be around 20% cheaper, but you'll know upfront the reliability of the opposite party.

In essence, the fan protect guarantee is Stubhub saying "there's a chance you'll be ripped off". We think that in this age of internet openness, full transparency is the only TRUE way to minimize risk, so that's our approach.

Sounds good! I just wonder how SeatCrew will stay afloat without charging ANY fees (a business needs money afterall!) Without guaranteeing the tickets being sold, it really isn't the same thing as StubHub. I would rather pay 10% and know my seats are insured than save $10-$20 and take a chance. What do you think Dave? Thanks again for the great work...keep it up!

I agree that the Mets would have to pick up a good chunk of the slaary and the Yanks could not give too much in the way of prospects. Also, he has an additional $5.5 million buyout not included in the $72 million mentioned or a $25 million year in 2014 if he hits certain performances. Picking him up may allow the Yanks not to have to pay crazy money to keep CC.[]

I'm not so sure about that. Reyes said that the Mets never made him an offer. I think the Wilpons financial situation prevented them from making a substantial offer (or even market value) to Reyes. And I believe that Wright will leave because of the owner's greed as well.

I still believe that Reyes was determined to switch teams and that Alderson wanted him to stay but knew the offer from Marlins would not be matched or topped. If Reyes wanted to stay a Met that badly, he would have gone to Alderson and said "look i want to stay here,lets work something out......"

Randy Myers had his biggest years after he left the Mets. He won the World Series in '90 with the Reds and had 53 saves in '93 with the Cubs. He pitched really well in '88 and '89 for the Mets but when I think about him, I usually think of the Nasty Boys and a guy who went onto bigger things after he left the Mets.

In retrospect, their careers are really close from '90 to '98. Myers was finished after that season and Franco only saved 19 games in '99 and never was a full-time closer again. Their stats are pretty comparable after the trade but I think Franco was more consistent.

Before the season started, I actually thought this team was capable of 88 wins. Crazy optimism? Just plain crazy? Yes and Yes! The assumption I had was based on everyone staying healthy and Johan coming back and pitching well.

As far as the last 9 games go... Out of habit, I&#039ll flip over to the game. If Reyes is up, I&#039ll watch.

I agree with both yours and Kerel Coopers comments on Pelfrey&#039s remarks and Bay&#039s recent hot streak. Pelfrey is having a bad year after high expectations and he is with a team that has seen both their ace relief pitcher (Rodriguez) and stalwart centerfielder (Beltran) be traded away. I feel that Pelfrey&#039s remarks were out of frustration but he&#039s also, perhaps, opened the door for his exit from New York. Bay has not played up to potential since his signing. He&#039s the weakest "power hitter" I&#039ve seen. He had some great years in Boston and Pittsburgh but since his arrival at CitiField his numbers, overall, are pretty dismal. I&#039d like to see the Mets and Bay part ways. Bay isn&#039t the kind of player to rebuild around. Come to think of it, a negative attitude, such as the one Pelfrey displayed, isn&#039t either. They both will most likely say goodbye to the Mets during the offseason.

All of the analysts are saying that this was a good pickup for the Mets and Alderson did a good job getting Wheeler, the Giants top pitching prospect. We won&#039t really know for a few years but Wheeler could have a big impact on the Mets in exchange for the Giants getting 60 games out of Beltran.

This is a HUGE pick up!!! Sandy did a great job with this trade. The Mets are finally looking toward the future and this was a brilliant move.

As for Wheeler he has a smooth motion that is easily repeatable. He has sneaky speed and an easy motion. He is currently striking out more then a man per inning and will be a great front end starter when he hits the bigs. We might see him as early as 2012, but I see him in the rotation full time in 2013.

kyle, good call on the .281 career avg for Beltran. The Mets never were in the wild card chase. They&#039re 6.5 games out with 4 teams ahead of them. That&#039s being on the fringe at best. You lost all credibility when you wrote that trading Beltran would cause attendance to tank. Attendance already did tank WITH Beltran on the team.The Mets lost $50 million last year and are on pace to lose $70 million this year because attendance is down. Beltran in the lineup clearly isn&#039t helping attendance.

You lost all credibility when you said Beltran is a career .260 hitter. His career BA is .281. Trading Beltran now would completely rule the Mets out of the wild card chase and prove to the fans that management has given up on this season, causing attendance to tank, and thus costing them more money in lost revenue in the long run.
